It's dead. Toshiba announced its death a month or so ago.

The only new movies you'll see are the few still contracted to be produced in HDDVD.

Bluray was the winner.. not that there was much of a competition. http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/19/b...on-s-division/

As sswilson said, there aren't many studios left to produce movies on the hd dvd format, and when there contract is up they will be transferring to bluray (unless there completly stupid).

You can always pick up a player and put it next to your Betamax and Laserdisc player

I heard the sales of HD-DVD's skyrocketed after Toshiba pulled the plug, a case of better late than never?! Some big box stores are apparently giving rebates to HD-DVD buyers on BluRay players, of course the price of BluRay drives have shot up more than the rebates are for - bastards.
