Running CPU-Z should tell you what type of memory is in your machine.

Re: how can i tell what kind of ram i have?
If it is a laptop there should be a cover on the bottom with likely just 1 small screw holding it on...take the cover off and read the label.
Not always 100%, but it works pretty well every time.

Re: how can i tell what kind of ram i have?
ok, after running this, it says :
In both slots:
pc2-5300 (333mhz)
this would be the type of ram it has right?
how would i find out how many "pins" are on this though? or is this type of ram only 200?
this is what i find everywhere on the net....

Re: how can i tell what kind of ram i have?
Just go to the store and ask for 667mhz ddr2 sodimm in the size you want. 2gb stick can be had for around $60 right now, if you take your laptop with you most places will install it on the spot free of charge as well
