Default PCI or USB Wireless?

I have a question I need some help with. I have new wireless modem and I was wondering if I should get a usb or pci wireless adapter for my desktop. The computer will only be about 10 feet from the modem and I only have the one computer. I heard that usb adapters can get very hot at constant high transfer rates and I dont have usb 2 ports in my pc. I know it wont change as my speed is maxed at 600kb/s but I dont know if that would cause any issues.

I'm not sure how much of a difference USB 1.0 would make, but based on that alone I'd suggest going with a pci wireless card.

If you do go for USB, go the the "connected with a cable" style rather than the "looks like a flash drive" style.

Is a cable out of the question? I've had problems with Belkin and Trendnet if you go wifi.

Belkin has to be the WORST for wireless.. I hear nothing but problems for them from others, not to mention my wireless belkin router died after 6 monthes of use.. i mean it does not know what power is anymore. My buddies new pci belkin wireless G card works.. but the antenna will only point right, left, or down.. so he uses it pointing straight out. Also the range is disgusting on it. It's never had a secure excellent connection even when right by the router, and 3 routers have been tried.

Personally i'd stick with linksys, netgear or maybe even D-link, goinf from best to worst in my experience. Hope that helps.

Tony
