The middle is supposed to be for a Physics card, aka another video card to handle game physics (with HavokFX) like the PhysX cards do. AMD and Nvidia have both mentioned they're 'coming', but it's been over a year since they were announced.

And I'd agree, the Striker is overpriced. X38 based boards will be out soon, and they have up to 4 x16 PCI-E 2.0 slots

Depends on what your plans are for the computer, and what kind of proc you're going to get.

If OC'ing is the prime concern, there are several decent mid-range boards based on either P965 or P35 chipset that will perform just as well as one of the higher end ones.

Another thing to keep in mind is to do some research on what kind of chips folks are getting through the retail chain.... most recent C2Ds seem to be topping out between 3400 - 3600 max (400 - 450 max FSB), so spending big bucks on a motherboard which will hit 500 - 600 FSB is not going to get you anything.

i would like to get into gaming and oc'ing. I am also a stikler for looks. i want my mobo to be either p35 or 680i. somthing that supports sli and 1333 bus, just incase for future for a cpu i am thinking of an e6600 or e6700, but i am leaning more towards the e6600 as i don't see a real justification for such a price jump. i won't have any money to work with until atleast the nd of summer so i may be looking at completly difernt stuff by then.
