Default Backing Up Outlook files

Does the .pst folder from Outlook contain all data? ( D:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) ....which would include contacts. calendar, and e-mails.

Thanks,
bill

Outlook is backed up in that PST file.
It has all your inbox and personal folders and everything.
I use it because its easy to back up.
When you reinstall you have to set up your account and everything again, then close outlook and copy over the new pst file with your old one.
You can also use the "import" feature (there is an "import from PST").
I still use outlook for my home email and for reading the newsgroups...I'm just so used to it

I feel dirty for admiting it though.

Dogg P,
BTW, it's Outlook 2000. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
bill

Give me a break.
I've gotta fix Joe Everman's computer over and over week in week out, I figured what the hell it ain't great but it works and if I'm using it I'll know how to take care of it...so I bent A LITTLE.
Its not like MS has me bent over a barrel and is trying for my tonsils...

Billy
Outlook 2000/2003 is simple to backup like DoggP says.

Goto File >Import/Export
Select "Export to a file" click Next
select "Personal Folder File (PST)" click Next
then you can choose what to backup.. click on Personal Folders (very Top), select "Include subfolders" click next
choose where to save file to and click finish

then make sure you backup the email account settings.

to install backup PST

Open outlook
File > Import/Export
Select Import from another program or file
Select Personal Folder File (PST)
Select File that you backed up earlier and choose where you want it to go and finish.

A lot easier to back up outlook then outlook express

Hope that helps

BOSSMAN

Boss,
Outlook files are on a trashed OS(on hard drive) that I have running off a USB port. Can't access the program MS Outlook, but I can save the .pst folders. Just trying to figure out if all the info (contacts, emails, and calendar) are in that .pst file. Once I get a re-install of that OS, I'll just "Import" the .pst file like you all said! (hope it's that easy!!)

Thanks,
bill
