Default Subwoofer advice needed

I have a 5.0 "home theatre". (Bought the speakers at different times)
I've tried using my bass amp as a sub, and it's a pain - no remote vol control, sound is lame.
I can't seem to find any subwoofers for sale on their own - I'm in an apt, so I don't need a wall shaker.
Are there any sub-$100 solutions to this? (sorry)
mike

That's about the cheapest I've personally noticed. You may have to consider something used.

go to XScargo and get the visonik 10" sub and amp, then wire it into your system. If you are good with sound equipment it shouldn't be too hard to wire it up to your receiver or make a small control circuit to power it.

You could go hill-billy and get a car deck with remote, throw it in a reciever box, and then wire everything out of that.. Provided it has an AUX IN port you would be set.. Car audio remotes seem to lack everything tho... plus there would be no DD support

Maybe you should look into getting computer speakers - as they essentially are a 'home theatre in a box' You say you are not going for a wall-shaker, also check out xscargo.com for subs and receiver systems at a decent price (minus the quality)
