What's the easiest way to get from an AMD 2500/9600 AIW to this:

I'm practically unix illiterate, but I'm not *scared* of it. Wondering what the best distro would be to throw Xgl + whatever (Mandiva?) on. Is anyone running anything like this? Pretty cool...

Just install Ubuntu and install Emerald..

Yep, that link to installing Beryl on Ubuntu is what you want.

Now it may even be easier than that, as the latest verison of Ubuntu (I think it was just released? If not it's still in Beta) version 7.0 has Beryl built in.

Beryl is one sweet window manager and apparently works well in software mode - so no major 3D acceleration is required (although it is suggested). I love how the windows appear to float above the cube for each desktop...
