Default Need assistance ASAP!!

Ok, some things changed very queerly when I got home from school today. Notibly, my Core 2 Duo e6300 was idling at 24C (stock heatsink) That was a bit strange, because it normally idled at low to mid 30's. Frequency was never changed. Either I'm lucky, or one of my sensors is dying. Under load (SuperPi) it barely surpassed 30C.

Another thing, the voltage on my board is extremely weird. My core voltage jumps between 1.15 (minimum) and 1.30V (maximum). It usually jumps between 1.15 and 1.28. Is this normal? It worries me that it's not a more precise value.

Also, the fan on my vid card (eVGA Geforce 7300GT) is now making the most annoying humming sound ever. It sounds like it's off a little bit, because sometimes when I boot, it wont make the noise, but sometimes it will. I'd say it does it roughly 9/10 times. VERY annoying. Any way to fix it? I bought it from Mysterybyte about a litte over a month ago.

Hmmm the temperature drop sounds a little odd if all other conditions are the same but the system temp and voltages are dependent on speedstep technology so if that's enabled in your bios it may explain what's happening there. Also thermal compounds can take as long as several weeks to "cure" and can lower temps a couple degrees after that has happened but not at the snap of a finger one day.

As for the video card fan it is most likely under warranty but if you don't want to keep running back for a replacement every month or 2 I'd suggest a new aftermarket cooling solution. Those stock fans have the highest failure rate I have ever seen of any pc hardware.

Alright, I do indeed have SpeedStep enabled, so I suppose it would logically explain that

As for the new cooler, *sigh*, I only really bought this card to hold me till the cheaper DX10 series came, but I suppose I could put a little bit more money into it. Could you reccomend a cheap one locally that would get the job done?

Thanks for your advice, the poor thing sounds horrible and actually stopped spinning a while ago Currently idling at 62C...

Something like this would likely do it for that card if it's compatible but it wouldn't hurt to go for the warranty at least once, maybe you'll get lucky and have a fan that will last until the dx10 cards come out

I'd go with a Zalman VF-700 on the card, at 5V you won't hear it at all.
