How many people leave their rigs running 24/7?
Just wondering who out there does. I do. The only time this thing is turned off is A) When I'm away from home for long periods of time. B) There's a power outage. C) I'm adding/removing hardware

You gotta find it hard to use them when they are turned off!!!! What do you do play X's & O's with chalk on the screen?
It's not "bad" for computers to leave them running particularly if you take advantage of power management features, sure the few moving parts in there will take on more wear and tear but such issues are of absolutely no concern to geeks like myself since I'll upgrade everything long before they have a chance to wear out

This workstation is always on, and the laptop usually is 'on' but in standby.

I've been told that computers are built to be left turned on. When your computer hits a stand by mode the power consumption is low enough that it makes little to no difference. Its the monitors that consume the most power (well CRT's anyway)
My desktop turns on but I sometimes turn it off at night, the fan keeps my girlfriend awake. And my laptop is off unless i am using it. But otherwise by desktop is always on.

True to a certain extent, it takes a lot of power every time you hit that power button. Crt's do eat quite a bit of power compared to LCD's but there are also some processors that eat tremendous amounts of energy, like Pentium 4 systems drawing over 200 watts under load with no draw on the video card at all!

oops typo, i meant "when i'm NOT using them" Btw, my friend who never shuts his computer off, had to replace his psu twice, although it might just be his crappy psu killing intel mobo.
