Vista Help Pleaseee
I've been using vista for a little while now, and ive only come across a couple problems, but this one is by far rthe most annoying, and needs to be corrected. My Vista version is 6000 Final. I recieved an 80gb hard drive from a friend, until i get enough money together for my 250gb, and threw it in my computer. It wored fine, with no errors once so ever, so i formatted it, then ran hd clone and transferred my other hard drives contents to the 80. I then set the jumper of the 80 to master, removed the old one from the system and attempted booting into the new drive, to my luck it worked perfectly. I ran some programs to make sure it was stable, and i came across no errors. Then when i went into the "computer" folder in vista, it still said my space was critically low, and said i was only running the same 30gb hard drive, but i knew i wasnt, because it was on the tabble in front of me. I looked under disk manager and I had 40 odd gbs of unpartioned space, meaning hd clone literally tried to make an exact copy of my hard drive. I looked into resizing a partition in vista, and the procedure was very simple, uning controlled already embedded into the operating system. Then i looked in my computer folder and it said i had my full 80 gigabytes. This made me happy, so since i was on a good streak, why not set up the 30 gb as a secondary and use it for media? So i set the old things jumper to slave, and threw her in. The bios recognized both my optical drives and hard drives perfectly, so i threw in an xp pro cd and used it to format the 30, dum idea. I rebooted the system, only to find a boot file in vista corupted. I had rebooted it a couple times on the 80, until after i resized the drive, so the problem must have something to do with that. And since i formatted the 30, I was stuck with no operating system. Now i am on the 30, which i loaded xp onto quickly. I NEED to get my vista working without reformatting, as there is important files on it. Im having trouble finding a windows vista boot cd also. Absolutly ANY help will be very apreciated. Thank You Very Much.
Tony
