Default Eastlink Woes

I'm back to the usual service with eastlink after 2 or 3 months of half decent service they've gone done the shithole again.

I've got a tech call booked for tomorrow evening cause of the 1 minute on : 5 minute off eastlink connectivity.

and now today i have no POP3 email access... it just keeps timing out in outlook and in webmail so I have no way to check my emails I tried calling tech support about it but gave up after half an hour of waiting for them to answer the phone.

anyone else having any issues?

Eastlink has always been spotty with service i found...

then again Aliant isn't much better if at all....

although it can be slow at time, i find aliant has a stabler connection.

we tried to go with Aliant but they want like $1000 deposit because the people who lived in this apartment before us didn't pay their bill so i laughed at them and told them where to shove their services

I haven't had any problems with Eastlink since I reconnected my high speed back in January 2005. Aliant is too slow for me (5 Mbps doesn't cut it anymore).

I had Eastlink way back in 2004 (but only the 5mbps connection) when I lived away from home for school. It always worked fine for me as far as I can remember.

I've had Aliant's 5mbps connection since I moved back home about a year and a half ago. It goes down for maybe 20 minutes every few months. But considaring Eastlink won't come here at all, I'm very pleased with Aliant. It's just as fast as Eastlink's 5mbps connection, if not faster.

ive had this one replaced twice, had 5 or 6 service calls so far lines replaced, physically assulted by one of their techs and paid many thousands of dollars in bills and have yet to have acceptable service

My service with eastlink was always excellent. Except for their tech support, they're useless. But who cares about that.
I'm stuck with aliant now, and it's awful.

"physically assulted"

Physically assaulted?
Unacceptable.
Did you file a complaint?
Hell, did you file something with the RCMP?
Don't take shit from anyone, let alone the lowly "tech"...

Quote from eastlink's telephone waiting machine.

"We have recently upgraded our customer care system to serve you better, As a result you may experience longer wait times"

For some stupid reason it keeps saying there's a cable disconnected, so my connection goes down for a while. I've never had problems like this with Aliant, if I could get Aliant TV out here, I'd switch back.

I've had excellent service for the last 4 years with eastlink. I've had less than 5 disruptions which lasted longer than 5 or 10 minutes, and even the short ones have been few and far between.

If you're not getting decent service on the server you've been stuck on, the trick is to change the mac addy in your router to force a new "dynamic" ip.

we been with eastlink for many years now. Yeah some times their wait time to call tech support or customer service is long..but its no better then anywhere else. We dont like aliant..they are liars and treated us like crap so we left and never went back..dont plan on ever going back either. We have had to change our modem numerous times over the years but we never really experienced "bad" service from the guys who come out to service the place.

I use eastlink, hell ive been using eastlink for 4 years now, and i never have a problem i can't fix myself.... except once. I called there tech support, and they introduced me to the "power drain", as its the only knowledge about there modems they knew over me, where you turn your computer off and hold in the power button for 10 seconds. It didn't work at all, but with some fidling I figured out my router had to be reset and i was fine from there on. Oh yeah and I also had some faulty with my vista 6000 install, but of course none of the eastlink boys had any idea how to do anything with vista, half of em didn't even know what it was. I resolved that too. I also have a question, I thought aliant was the faster choice over eastlink? Or so my friend who "looked it up on google" tells me.
