Default "Software" Crossfire no dongle required

With the release of the Catalyst 6.11 drivers they have added the ability to enable Crossfire via software for X1900 based cards, has anyone tried it yet I am curious how well it works? If someone in Dartmouth has an X1900 based card like an XT or an XTX I would love to give it a whirl since i have a free PCI-e slot just waiting for a second X1900. PM me if you may be interested in hooking up to give it a go

From the 6.11 Release notes:
"New Features"

This release of Catalyst® introduces software CrossFire™ support for any combination of Radeon® X1900 and X1950 installed in a system running either the Windows XP or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating system.

well oddly enough the day after I asked myself about Software Crossfire one of the large tech sites from Australia has posted their look at this big improvement for ATI video card users that have X1900 series cards.

Thankfully searching for a Crossfire Master card for my X1900XT is no longer required, I can just grab any make or manufacturing of an X1900GT/XT/XTX and fill the second PCI-e graphics slot and get the boost without the dongle

That's great! It's a big step towards making crossfire a lot cheaper and easier

I already don't need a mastercard... Doubt I'll go CF though, SLi had enough issues.
