chicken burger
ok,
so me and the guys were out,we decided before having poker night we were going to grab a quick bite. We've hit pretty much every "slow" food place in dartmouth and did'nt really want to venture to Halifax,So in all our wisdom we decided "hey we've never ever been to chicken burger".I've always heard good things about the place to the only exception that its kinda expensive. We got there and upon dismounting the car the staff was all huddled around one cash starring at us ( a tall man,fat man ,one italian and a native fellow is'nt much too look at and we did'nt look odd or as we had killed some one).We went in and decided to order. We usually take our time ordering, because you have to becareful when ordering food because theres no going back once you order. The whole time the staff kept asking in 40 - 30 second intervals "what do you want" At which point i figured they were closing soon ( it was 9:30pm).We ordered and waited for the food,Upon receiving the food it looked like a piss poor "hot chicken sandwhich" i figured i'd get the traditional filet thats breaded ... you know a
"chicken burger",We were all pretty grossed out but shuged our shoulders and decided to try it anyway. The chicken was almost sour, and it smelled of urine (piss!).The portion was smaller then the palm of my hand and most of all two of them and a drink cost 9.00$!.So we finished ,we all pretty much just ate one and threw one in the trash. My friend ( the tall one) and the italian went out to the car while i waited for the other guy to finish. He finished and we went out side to my surprise i walked up to the driver side of the car and the doors open and the tall fellow had all this mucus ( snot) all running from his nose and (no word of a lie here folks) a prefectly round 3 inch high pile of puke with an indent in the middle to which i assume was from the lasting force of it exiting him.It seriously looked like about 5 pancakes stacked ( the hay makers). So that was pretty damn gross,He mentioned that it was bothering his stomach directly after eating it and he had only water from most of they day and a bowl of cheerios about 14 hours earlier. We left did'nt think much until the italian wanted to stop into mcdonalds as he was still hungary.Upon stopping the car the tall fellow stepped out of the car and vomited a total of 6 more times to which was mostly fluid in the end, which was over a 15 minute period and a total area volume of about a 1 square foot and larger each time.So i decided that something is really wrong and walked down to the chicken burger and talked to the "shift manager" to whom i told what had happened and apologized about his parking lot but that there was an issue that now me and the other guys had started to not feel well and he replied that he had a "chicken burger" earlier and it was fine,at which point i said "if your not going to take this seriously i want your head offices contact information" to which i received and left.I currently had to stop writing this twice due to diarrhea and we are all showing definate signs of food poisoning.Hurray,Fuck you chicken burger.its on now.

Wow. I've eaten there a couple of times, granted the burgers were kinda small, they were good. I have, however, never eaten there late at night. The couple of times I have been there was either during the day or around supper time. It's hard to say what the night time crew make think of, like pissing on the chicken or "Rubbing Out" their own kinda "Special Sauce", when they get bored.
I do hope you stick it to them, and I will never go back there now.

If you're going to take this further, you should all go to the doctor ASAP and get a record of food poisoning.

Thats terrible man. Nail them to the wall. The sad part about it is that it's not normally that way, I like their food, though it's a bit expensive.
Just a word of advice to you and everyone else though, if you walk into a fast food place and its past 9PM, and you don't see a single adult (I'm talking early 30's and up), the workers are gonna be lazy and the foods gonna be gross. The chicken was probably just expired, and they held it for longer rather than cook a new "batch" or whatever, so close to closing time.
In any case, hope your feeling better soon.

That's horrible! I agree on getting to the doctor so you have it on record as "food poisoning". I ate at the Chickenburger once after hearing everyone say such good things about it ( I didn't grow up in HRM). So about 6 months ago now, I decided to try one of the chickenburgers. I was hugely disappointed! The buns were small and obviously just taken from a package from Sobeys or wherever; the chicken was ground up chicken strands that looked like strings of noodles mixed with gravy. There was no taste to it at all....I couldn't even finish it, it was that gross, and I love my chicken and never throw out food! I will NEVER go back there again, that's for sure.
The only time I've ever had obvious food poisoning was from "The Vines" Pasta Grill in Dartmouth off Main st. My boyfriend and I both ate their and became violently ill afterwards. We waited over 24 hours and we were still vomiting and were dehydrated. We ended up both having to go to ER and get shots in the bum, that's how bad it was, and I'm not usually one to go to ER unless I think I'm going to die. But I was actually concerned since it was going on day 2 and still vomiting and diarrhea.

Well, I had occasion to do an unannounced inspection of the place once and I can honestly say, I've never seen a cleaner restaurant. I mean it was incredible.
You must have caught them on a really bad day.

I spoke with the manager of the store this morning,to which i assume is manager of operations,Anyway he pretty much blew me off like the shift manager claiming that they had received no other compliants ( and his message was pretty clear that had received no other complaints therefore this one is not valid).I mentioned about the younger staff and maybe they had done something to it for kicks but all i could tell him is what happend on our side.He dissmissed everything and would'nt even say that he would look into things.I'm thinking about what to do next.

What is it that you want? An apology? Money back?
If so, find out who the owner is and write a letter. The place is privately owned (one would assume), and most of the time, owners of establishments like that want to keep a good, clean name, so that's your most likely route for any resolution.
FWIW, I only went to the place once, and wasn't a fan either. The place is always packed during the day, though - must be one of those Alexander Keith's type things - "Those who like it, like it a lot!"

Understanding and apology would be great, instead i keep getting blown off and no one is taking ownership of the situation.

Ownership of the situation best comes from ownership of the restaurant. If you get blown off there, I don't really see much that you can do besides boycott the place?
Regardless of what happened (which sucks), it is a fast food place. I always consider that I'm taking my life into my own hands whenever I go to a fast food place.. actually, make that any restaurant chain where the employees are only their for the (small) pay cheque.
My sister used to work for East Side Marios.. after the stories she told me about what goes on "behind the scenes", I refuse to eat at that place.
Anyway, not saying you don't have a valid complaint - I still reccomend the letter to the owner if you want resolution. Anyone else you talk to is just "doing there job" so they can make rent, so they're not going to care too much whether you get resolution or not!
