Although I've never been sick from this place, I do agree that it is totally overrated. I guess just the nostalgia of the good ol days and the outdoor ordering system (stupid in my opinion) keeps them popular.
I could make a better chicken burger with my eyes closed. Seriously why do people like this place? Their 'Chicken Burger' is a little dinner roll with some shredded chicken on it, and nothing else. A group of co-workers took me to this place last summer and they raved about it, I was disgusted at the price for the portion and quality of the food. I will never eat there again.

Regardless of what happened (which sucks), it is a fast food place. I always consider that I'm taking my life into my own hands whenever I go to a fast food place.. actually, make that any restaurant chain where the employees are only their for the (small) pay cheque.
My sister used to work for East Side Marios.. after the stories she told me about what goes on "behind the scenes", I refuse to eat at that place.
Anyway, not saying you don't have a valid complaint - I still reccomend the letter to the owner if you want resolution. Anyone else you talk to is just "doing there job" so they can make rent, so they're not going to care too much whether you get resolution or not!

Well your right 120%,its still nice to let them know there was an issue.I don't imagine i or they will continue with this however i am very dissappointed.
Funny thing i've heard alot of bad things about East side marios as well, particularly reguarding rats at the mic mac mall location but the person whom told me this said that zellers is full of them and therefore is most of the mall.

Their chicken burger is actually a pulled chicken sandwich, hot and with cranberry sauce...I think they're gross and they also have the worst milkshakes I've ever encountered and Mc Donalds style, cheap ass, frozen fires.
On the other hand they have great cheeseburgers.

Chicken Burger...Over-Rated...Over-Priced...and they DON'T Take Bank Cards -unless you want to be charged $3 to use the stupid no name bank machine in the Restaurant Foyer. Me and my wife went there once, last summer - I was not impressed with the lackluster "Fast-Food Restaurant Ettiquette", or lack thereof (Order now DAMMIT!). We had the palm-sized canned chicken meat on a Ben's Burger Bun...Gross Gross Gross... I have nver gone back and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone....

acheyne, this "behind the scenes" stuff at east side marios intrests me very much lol, mind sharing this with me? I like knowing how these fast food joints make there food, like kfc and "mickey D's" yuckkkk although, i dine at both places anyways, because no matter how sick the process is, the result, in my opinion, is fantastic.

Man, KFC's "end-of-the-day-grease" gravy is spectacular.
All those little bits of chicken coating and lost fries simmered in the thick juicy oil in the grease trap mixed with KFC's "instant gravy" powder...goddamn thats some good eats.

Re: chicken burger
For the record... The Chickenburger goes through about 2.5 tonnes of chicken or more a week. It's fresh from Eden Valley Farms and is hand-picked and sorted, even bruised meat is removed by hand before cooking. No machines in the process at all. The meat is then diced and chopped by hand and simmered in it's own stock before it meet's the bun and finally the customer. The place takes the cake on cleanliness, even the concrete basement floor and stairs are scrubbed by hand with disinfectant. The hamburger is supplied from Classic Meats in Rawdon and is ground fresh mere hours before it's delivered, it's never frozen and no fillers. The fish is fresh haddock from Fishermans Market. The food is made to order as required and never left standing. There is always an adult supervisor in the building at any given time. Much of the place is torn down every night and cleaned thoroughly.
An isolated incident is not likely the food or the place you bought it. I'd worry more about what you ate at McDonalds later on. As for food at the "Chick" it's been doing something right for 68 years and earned the status of a food legend across Canada, winning many of the Coast's "Best Of Food" awards and more.
I wouldn't worry folks.

Re: chicken burger
Wow, always nice to see an 8 month old thread get picked back up.
So "For the record" why are the portions so small, and why do you get treated like you stole something if you want a minute to think about what you'd like to order?
I don't give a crap if the chicken is still pecking rocks out back before I eat it, there's nothing worse than a bad dining experience, even if the food was awesome.
If I've got to pay that much of a premium to get my pulled-chicken-bits slop on a bun because its fresh, I'll take the shit that was injected with drugs, then frozen and imported from taiwan.
I've spent less and gotten more.
I would be worried.
