Braces
So I went to the dentist tonight for a clearning, so I decided that I would ask him if I could get braces because one tooth really pisses me off. It's just slightly back from the rest, most never notice it but it fucking bugs me like crazy. So anyway, he has already told me no once and this time I said I really wanted them, so he sent a consult to another doctor.
Anyway, I was thinking about it all night and I realized I really don't think I want braces or do I? Oh lordy! I can't make up my mind. I really want to get married soon and I don't want to have a metal mouth in my wedding pictures. Have any of you had braces? How old were you? And are you glad you went through with it?
Is it really worth going through two years with braces for ONE tooth?

I'm with you on that, I think braces are cute on women. I have a friend who's about 24 and she has braces, and she looks about 16. So adorable. She hates it though..
I had braces when I was 15. It sucked, but I needed them. Now I have a permanent lower retainer that I'll have "until it falls out or until I have grandchildren". I don't think it's worth it for one tooth. I wish I had a natural smile.. Instead of this manufactured one. Ah well.

hey, i just got my braces off in september. they pissed me off, especially if a wire or something breaks, it hurts like hell, jabbing on your cheek or toungue. if you do get them, you have to make sure you brush really well.

Braces are kinda fun at first but they get annoying fast. As someone already mentioned the rip up your mouth al the time. Just think about metal scraping against skin everyday for a few years....not too fun. It's extremely expensive. Orthodontists are over pad and it's hard to get an apointment. But if it will make you feel better about yoursel go for it....just try to get a dental plan first that includes braces. I've had them for about two years and i'm 20....i'm fed up but i should be getting them off soon....
oh and if you want them expect all your meal to take about 15 minutes longer as you get a ton of crap stuck in your teeth
there are invisble braces (i think called invisaline). sounds alright but the urge to not wear them must be great especially when it hurts like hell.

If it is only one tooth u might be able to get by with just wearing a retainer.. they can make one so that it pushes out just one tooth. Takes a few years, but at least u won't have a mouth full of metal. Worked good for me.. well it would have if I had kept wearing it. U must be jus like me cuz I have jus one tooth on the top left side that sticks in a lil farther than the rest. I went to see Dr. Wolfe. I don't know if ur close to Truro but she works there sometimes and her main office is in Oxford. Well... good luck Krissy!
