2 options:
very obvious one is check if security seal is broken - if not, theres no way its modded. If the seals gone:
(on slims its on the back left side and quite square. On the fatboys its on the left side where the bottom, top, and backplate meet.)
-tear the console apart to see if you see the chip.
-burn some media (small homebrew game, bootdisk, backup, etc) and see if it loads.

Depending on the chip it may be possible to try to enter its config menu, or disable it.. hard part is, every chip works differently.

If you want I can check for you, and if its not I can pop one in if thats what you wish

can u post/send pics of the faceplates? how does the sd/mmc slot work out, is there some frankenstien looking attatchment? also looking to downgrade my 2.82 after the 3.03 downgrader comes out if i cant find an unpatched version of lcs. also looking to get my slim ps2 repaird ... disc drive isnt working discs arent spinning???

Good place to get yer stuff modded. He knows what he's doing, and he stands by the stuff he sells - even if he got ripped off with some bad replacement parts he didn't take it out on me.

Screens are not cheap, you are looking at roughly $80 for the screen alone, installation would be $5.
downgrades are $10 if you have 3.02 or lower firmware. If you are 3.03+ you cannot downgrade at this time. The lower the firmware the less risk there is when downgrading.
The new firmware is 3.10OE-A' I believe now.. Devhook can upgrade you to 3.11 but theres no real improvements at all with that.

You likely need a new laser and the Summ0ne fix. If the SCPH of the console is 700011 you have a V12, which burns lasers faster than you can make kraft dinner. Cost of a new laser for the PS2 slims is $55 I believe. The SD attachment affixes to the back of the unit and takes 1 or 2 SD cards specially formatted. Its very light weight but does make the unit 2x as thick on the memory card side. Right now I don't know if there is a benefit to this device as Pro Duo cards fell drastically in price in the past few months.

I am scheduled to get a shipment of wiikey's in within next 1-2 weeks, but it looks as if they are all spoken for right now - but words mean nothing to me as people change their minds. They are $80 installed. I am also going to be installing homebrew mods, once one that works correctly comes out which would be hopefully this week. Those are $20 installed. Sabeen is the man... Just got the bios on my box flashed - no more need for softmod and no chip to worry about.

Lickety split he had mine flashed and my buddy's softmodded in less than 40 minutes. Don't trust your console to anyone else.

Just want to drop a line to say that i had Sabeen hook me up with my Wii when i got in over my head and did a sweet job and was damn quick too. i would recommend him for any mod or custom work you need. thanks again
