for one, Ryan i am sick of the spam posts all over the forums from you regarding the other guy mattjuan or whatever.
take it up with him in private, we really don't need to see on every single post on the website one from you saying you want your system back...
then telling me to get a life when i complain about it, i guess having a life is spamming forums all day and night huh?
talk to the guy by phone, email, just not every single thread we look at.
you should have checked the laptop cosmetically and seen it working before doing the deal, its your fault you got ripped to be honest for stupidity.
Who else would trade a 500 dollar system for a laptop that you can neither see working nor check over physically?
i certainly wouldnt...

And that's exactly it, right there. It's the BUYERs RESPONSIBILITY to check an item before forking over any money or items.
Suck it up, princess.

Well hold on.
While I totally agree that its his responsibility to check the (of all things) computer before finalizing the transaction, its not really fair to bash him for publicizing a problem he's having with a regular when Matt actually has a thread (as of this post) RIGHT above this one in response to problems from another forum goer.
If Matt is dicking people around, it's good for this to go public. Especially if this is a recent change in his character. Just because someone WAS a good buyer/seller, doesn't mean he wont start ripping people off. I would hope an Admin would keep this stickied below Matts complaint about cloudstrife as a "buyer beware".
On a side note, even though the O.P. FUCKED up by not testing the Laptop, and should really learn his lesson, I seem to remember a Mr. mike pettigrew from HFX4sale. Its took a thread just like this (and maybe some threats of legal action) to straighten him out. If Matt wants to keep his reputation as a good buyer/seller, maybe this will "compell" him to fix what he's done wrong.
Finally, this is to the original poster. I definitely got the "threatening physical violence" vibe from this post. Pissed as you may be, don't be a retard. It wouldn't be too hard to incriminate you using this thread, should anything actually happen to Matt. Maybe try the "human approach" a little more before getting rowdy.

Ms. Pagan,
It't not often I disagree with you.
And even less often I voice it.
But I must protest.
If someone describes something to me using terms like "tested" and "working", thats what I expect.
Sure, some things are obvious like a broken screen on a laptop (duh?), but I usually take people at their word.
I've been stung a lot. A LOT. And its warnings like this that help keep people from being screwed.
Now I know not to simply take MattJSlaunwhite at his word.
Of course I'm going to check out what I'm buying, but what can you get away with when "checking out" something?
Can I show up to your place with a kit bag and start taking something you're selling to me all apart to check it out?
You tell me the battery on something lasts an hour...shall we stand around and wait to make sure?
And what if by some odd chance you do decide its ok for me to tear something apart to examine it before buying...what if I change my mind?
It is YOUR item, not mine. Until I pay for it, what right to I have to manipulate it?
So until ownership is transfered, I wouldn't expect to get a good look at something.
And the initial look-over can be deceiving.
I know what you mean with the "BUYERs RESPONSIBILITY", but what you mean is "Buyer Beware"...and irked buyers setting off alarms help us all.

This site, like MANY others out there has these kind of people who deal on it...so bear in mind these two clichés...
1>Buyer Beware...and
2> You get what you pay for....

I agree that we should have "tried" to check everything out before letting him have the system, however, he did tell me that it only needed to be formatted and that he would throw in a copy of XP so we could do that. It was impossible to know that it wouldn't work unless we made him stick around through the whole thing, which he wouldn't have anyway because he "was in a hurry to leave" As for the screen being messed up, it wasn't visible until u actually turned it on.. but yes, another incident of my stupidity for not checking it out until after he left with my stereo. He also told me that it had a 40 gb HD, when in fact it only has a 4 gb HD. He said it had a DVD rom which it does not, he said it had 256 ram and it only has 128... yes I checked it out. It also has no network card. All I wanted to accomplish by putting this thread up here was to warn ppl to be very careful and cautious when dealing with him. I am not in any way telling u all to stop deals with him immediately as I know he has been good to ppl with other deals he has made, but it is true... just because he made a few good deals doesn't mean he won't start ripping ppl off when he feels like it. Now... I know this is a long shot seem as how most ppl on this site hate me... but if there is anyone out there that might be able to help me get my system back, it would be muchly appreciated and rewarded. I don't have much money, however, since it was such an important thing to me I am willing to give $50 to the person who helps me get it back. I know it's not much but I am hoping someone out there will have the heart to help me. Thanx again guys.
