This is the 512 Gddr3 model, not the extended 1 gig ddr4 models.
However, those gddr4 1 gig cards are NOT XTX's, they don't offer better frequencies, and I don't think that ATI themselves have released such a revision of the HD2900 XT.

I know Sapphire and a few of the cheap makers have those, but I wouldn't count on them performing a ton better than the 512 Gddr3

Thanks Nukkus

ATI has no plan to release the 1GB version, it was designed for the OEM's. Diamond has a few version at overclocked speeds available, HIS has a 1GB card as does Sapphire. Sapphire is the largest producer of ATI cards period. They make the ones that ATI retails also.

You're right Chaos. It's funny. All the cards that say, "Built by ATI" are actually built by Sapphire Every ATI card I've owned except for 1 has been a sapphire card. Never had a problem once.

Yep Sapphire is a very good make. I still have a x800 GTO2 from Sapphire, works perfectly!

Back to the HD2900 xt - All of the reviews I've read show very low gains from the extra memory. They show a
2-3 FPS gain, which isn't worth the extra money. If anyone is wondering if they should wait and buy a 1 gig edition, I say nay! Check out www.techpowerup.com

Thanks for the article. I'm going to the States in 2 weeks. Still debating if I should upgrade now or wait a few months for prices to drop as newer DX 10 cards are released.

BTW, good luck on the sale as I'm sure it's a great card.
