OK, I'm looking for some upgrades or a replacement for my aging Compaq. It's an older machine, so I am in need of the following to upgrade to my standards:
A stick or 2 of DDR RAM, 512 per
A PCI Video card, 128 or 256 meg. I have NO AGP or PCI-E slot, so...
DVD burner
My current rig is a Compaq Presario S6000NX with minor upgrading done. Specs:
Celeron 2.7G 512 megs RAM 160 Gig HD for storage.
Otherwise, it's stock, which isn't great, but sufficient for most of my needs. I've been finding recently that some video help (onboard for this one sucks in a BIG way) and RAM increase are a must have. Been pushing it a bit of late, and I am finding it chokes much easier than I'd like.
I do electrical work mostly, but I can run network cable as required (I have a little bit of cat5) I'd like to trade my labor for either the upgrade gear mentioned, or, if you've got a bigger job (wiring your basement, swapping out a lot of fixtures/thermostats/devices, etc) I'd be willing to work for a decent desktop PC that would offer me more reasonable priced upgrades as I go, IE it has an APG or PCI-E slot, accepts DDR2 RAM and so forth. Other gear I'd be willing to work for:
Laptop with a decent size HD (20+ gigs)
X-Box games/gear
I would, as well, consider other PC gear.
