Default LF: DVD Burner

Hello, one and all!

I am in a little predicament. I'm trying to build my own comp this week (March Break), and one thing I'm wanting to have in it is a DVD Burner.

NOw, I admit, even though I've spent most of my life around computers, I'm still a newb when it comes to the lingo and all that (I'm only 17).

So, when I get a chance, I'll get my friend to help me get the specs of the comp (he's gonna help me build), and I'll post them here. But until then, I'd welcome any suggestions and comments. Constructive criticism is also warmly welcomed.

For now, you can contact me at kylerichardson11@hotmail.com, or richark12@student.ednet.ns.ca.

Thanks a million,
Kyle

Get a pioneer.. either the DVR-111D or the DVR-112D.. both are great, the 112D supports faster writing speeds on supported media and also appears to give a more reliable burn than the 111D.. could be cause its newer than my 111D though

Lots of good ones depends on needs. I picked up a Samsung a year or so ago, $45 delivered, and have had great success with it. LG, Pioneer, Lite-On all good.
If you really wanna learn the ins and outs join up on cdfreaks.com, lots of articles, reviews and a good forum community.

hey kyle,, i'm using a pioneer 111d in my second computer and its nice. very very quiet. and not too expensive at robotnik in bayres lake for $40, though it looks as though there are no black left and it is a better idea to go with the 112d since its newer and supports 18x speeds, its also black

I just found the retail specs of my comp. Here's the link:

http://www.monitorman.com/ecommerce/...p?idProduct=57

Thanks,
Kyle

PS. If anyone has any Windows 2000(SP4) or WinXP lying around that you don't want anymore, let me know. I'm looking for one of em.

Thanks again.
