WTB: Barebones system
Currently i'm running an athlon xp 1800+ (1.5 ghz) with a radeon 9200 agp, onboard sound, 40 gig hd, 1 gig ddr 333, 52x cdrw, etc.
i'm getting less than 35 fps in guild wars and half life 2. i'm after a quick and dirty upgrade to boost my gaming preformance without busting the bank. Currently I'm tracking a radeon 9800 agp card and a real sound card on ebay but i want a better mobo and cpu. So, if someone could put a barebones together after we've agreed on components and a price point i'd be most greatful.
So far i'd like a cpu running 2.8 to 3.0 ghz althlon xp or 64 is fine, no poor preformance semphron please. older intel too, as long as it's not a celeron.
For motherboard i'd like it to support the ram i have, sata is not an asset, nor is raid. the less onboard stuff the better, however it needs an agp 8x slot and have 5 pci slots. i'd like it to be from a reputable producer such as abit, asus, msi, etc.
I'd like a dvd-rom too, but it doesn't need to be a burner. If one can be found cheap enough though, that's fine.
For a case something that looks nice with a 2 fans installed, not gaudy looking and preferably Ultra or Thermaltake.
And for a powersupply, one that is rated for 400 or 450 watts, i guess.
