LF: starter computer for my 6 year old
I was wondering if anyone might have a nice little starter computer I might be able to get for my 6 year old son. I bought 1 last month for my 2 children to share but it has been moved into my 8 year old daughters room and now I need to find one for him. Thanks

Not interested in a celeron thanks. Would prefer an AMD based computer but will also consider a pentium.

I have a Compaq workstation. Pentium 350mhz or Celeron 550mhz. Your choice. 128mb SDram, 3gb hard drive, CDRom, Sound and Video, and NIC. Very basic, very cheap.

AMD 750 (duron I think)
Asus A7V motherboard
256M SDRAM (100Mhz current clock speed)
4G HDD
CDROM
32M AGP TNT2
AOpen 10/100 NIC
5.1 PCI sound card
Generic case w/250W ATX PSU
PS2 keyboard w/optical mouse (well used)
Looking for a reasonable offer I guess.
I'll ballpark it at $80.
Can toss in a 15" monitor.
No charge.
Who charges for a 15" monitor anymore anyways?

Bump.
Thought I had one last weekend to pick up but the person did not get back to me with location and time.
I am hoping to spend less than $200 on a system as he is 6 years old and will be playing some games on it and getting used to a keyboard etc.

a "Starter Computer" can be a vague description, interpreted in different ways by different forum members.
Can you give us a general description and specs of what your looking for?
