PC Greenlyph - Halifax, NS

I have done a lot of business at Greenlyph computers, they always provide great service and have very competitive pricing. I find it best to call ahead for special items as they often sell out fast with their crazy prices!

They've been under new ownership/management since last July and the guys are excellent with regards to warranty replacement and general attitude from my dealings with them.

I've had great service with them. Bought some ram there a few months ago and it for some reason just refused to work in my system. They gladly exchanged it the same day.

I bought a Sapphire 9600PRO from them that was actually a 9600LE but label PRO "Advantage Edition" by Sapphire. This is a sneaky tactic that Sapphire has used in the past and has been busted for (see 9800pro "128bit Edition" among others). Greenlyph had this labeled as a 9600 PRO on their website and a subsequent email regarding the Sapphire trickery went unanswered. It might seem like a small issue but I don't do business with a place that is complicit with a company that is intentionally misleading customers.

I found there not bad to deal with now that frank isnt there any longer...
we got into it 1 time over a DFI motherboard problem, I had set it all up (Im a computer tech, and build many pc's) it didint boot..

he tried to tell me that the problem was I put input power onto output ports on the board. a molex and P-9 connector, turned out in the end I was right, they were both intakes and the board was actually toast, that was my one and only time I had issues with GL.

all other times have been more than pleasant, I never go anywhere for tech support unless its to test a returning product...

I still recommend A+++++

I understand that this happened probably over a year and a half ago but am still interested in knowing a bit more about it! Did we list the card as the 9600Pro Advantage on the website? It's been so long ago that I honestly can't remember... I know that it was pretty clearly stated on the box if the card was an "advantage" model or not, but I don't know if we had a chance to update our listings. Either way, I apologize that you received a card that you weren't expecting, but you could have brought it back to exchange for another card! (Unless you were trying to do that in the email, in which case I apologize again..sometimes we are so swamped with emails that we may miss a stray few that we assume are just basic info for us.)

Sapphire may have been a little shady with some of their dealings, but we've been researching every model for the last little while to insure we're getting their proper cards. It was the 9800Pro 128 bit issue that really got us as well, especially since they were still using the same SKUs from our suppliers! Nasty nasty trick there. Unfortunatly, they still are one of the only ATI manufacturers that our suppliers carry, so we must keep them in stock.

If you have any other questions, feel free to send me an email to jeremy@greenlyph.com , as we don't want to be misleading anyone...That doesn't help us or you.

Thanks!

Hey Jeremy,
As you guys deal with a million people I'm sure you don't know who I am, but I assure you I know who you are and have been happy with the service ALL the time.
I have been sweet talked by Frank in the past into buying things I didn't need or didn't work like he said they would, but I was there to be sold.
I've had several friends buy machines from Greenlyph and I've bought parts there lots of times, never any problem.
When they are "swamped" sometimes crap happens, but they're always willing to fix a mistake.
For example I once picked up a stick of RAM, turned out to be the wrong stuff.
I had to drive the 45 mins back in to take it up with them, and for the hassle Jeremy tossed in a nice passive northbridge cooler I was eyeing.
Great guys, great business.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it is much appreciated.

Bill- Where are you located? We may have better shipping options that aren't always advertised, so send me an email or give us a call with what you're looking for. We don't mind throwing a package on the Acadian Lines bus, or MBW courier, or Canada Post, etc etc.. As long as it gets there [ which it doesn't sometimes with those Canada Post sweethearts ].

Take care,

Jeremy

Jeremy is it you running things now since Franks gone? I haven't been in need of anything lately but I'm soon going to be upgrading so I'm sure you'll see me.

As far as I remember it was listed as a 9600pro on your site. Even so, say a customer walks into your store and decides to pick up a 9600pro. He then notices the "Advantage Edition" sticker on the box...what's he to think? Now, I don't know about in Taiwan but here in Canada Advantage doesn't mean "of worse or lower quality". That's no Advantage...it's clearly just an underhanded trick by Sapphire. I'm hardcore yet I can't quote the core and memory clock of the dozens of card types on the market. I doubt the average consumer walking into your store and seeing 800mhz memory clock on an "Advantage Edition" sticker is going to know that they're about to get fucked.

Is there only one supplier for this city or what? I was actually going to give Greenlyph another chance but I got the run around with those ASUS x1950pro's you had. One guy tells me there is a new shipment of them coming Friday... I call back Friday and the guy on the phone tells me there are none and that you're never getting them in again (that was two weeks ago yet they're still up on your site). Oh well, off to Robotnik for another god damned Sapphire since that's all this fucking city has...

You better hope Futureshop's peripherals department doesn't get their head out of their ass like Best Buy's did in the states, or local PC shops in Canada will go the way of the independent book stores and music shops....

Best thing that happened to Greenlyph was the departure of Frank - Frank was demeaning, condescending, and manipulating. I will give only one thing to Frank, he had a business plan that worked.

Props to Jeremy for changing the negative face of Greenlyph, I will shop there again now that der Fuehrer is drying out in another province.
